The Government is hoping to generate RM50mil in sales via the biggest online sale in the country and the first Government-led cyber sale in the world – the #MYCyberSALE.

The initiative, which offers deals of up to 90% in discounts for products including flight tickets and clothing, is the latest effort by the Multimedia Deve­lopment Corporation (MDeC) and is endorsed by the Communica­tion and Multimedia Ministry and related agencies.

MDeC chief operating officer Ng Wan Peng said there was a target of RM50mil in sales to be generated in the three-day sale, which will run from Sept 29 to Oct 1.

“We are also hoping to reach 100,000 buyers. This is our minimum target as it is the first time we are holding such a sale.

“We hope to make this an annual affair, in which we can also learn about consumer spending patterns and perhaps come up with a bigger event in future,” she told reporters during the media briefing and launch of #MYCyberSALE here yesterday.
